Nutrition for Preschoolers

 

Teachers will learn basic nutrition education about preschooler's eating habits and how to improve them. The focus is developing the child's eating behavior and food choices, which may last into adulthood.  The importance of eating five servings of fruits and vegetables daily is emphasized.

 

 

 

Food Safety and Sanitation

 

This training provides food safety and sanitation techniques, which prevent food spoilage and food-borne illness.  Teachers will get practical hands-on lessons that can be applied daily in their classroom.

 

 

 

Child Feeding Practices

 

Teachers will learn how to introduce children to new foods while integrating child-feeding activities into their existing curriculum.  They will also learn to recognize signs and symptoms of food allergies and choking. 

 

 

 

The Basics Of Edible Gardens

 

This workshop offers an opportunity to develop basic knowledge about gardening and use of this educational resource as a learning center to reinforce healthy eating habits.  This workshop offers hands-on fun activities for children connecting the garden and nutrition. 

 

 

 

Physical Activity for Preschoolers

 

Teachers will actively use "purposeful movement" as an initial step to develop an age-appropriate physical activity program for their classroom. They will learn how to create a safe environment for physical development through play.

 

 

 

Nutrition Matters! Curriculum

 

A curriculum designed  with practical, hands on interactive lessons that for the Preschool classroom. It is connected to the Department of Education Desired Results.
