About NETA

The NETA Academy serves early childhood children, educators, and parents. The program aims to improve child health and well being through a comprehensive approach by supporting healthy food choices and an active lifestyle, which will also building an environment that both supports and promotes the adoption of these practices. NETA's primary goal is to increase early childhood education providers capacity to meet the health and nutrition needs of our ethnicially diverse children aged 3-5 years old.

PRIMARY OUTCOMES

Early Childhood Education Providers will:

  • Understand the nutritional needs of preschoolers and skills to encourage healthy eating practices in their classrooms.
  • Increase prevention skills of food allergies, food-borne illness, choking accidents and apply food safety and sanitation techniques into their daily activites.
  • Learn about diverse child eating practices; portion sizes and develop techniques to make meal times pleasant for socializing and learning.
  • Incorporate basic gardening skills as an educational tool to help children eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • Improve personal health with an understanding of basic fitness knowledge to incorporate movement into their daily curriculum.
